It’s once again that time of year when the leaves begin to change colors and the temperatures start to fall. Autumn is also a good time to have a few of those long overdue automotive maintenance chores handled as well. In addition to the regular upkeep you should already be doing on your car or truck, the fall season brings with it the need to add a few more:

Change the Oil

It’s a good rule of thumb to change your oil every 3 months or, to keep it simple to remember; at the start of each new season. Although oil changes from cold to warmer months are even more important, it still gets one car care task out of the way for another few months.

Get a Tune Up

It is always critical to make sure that your vehicle is performing at peak efficiency. This is even more true in the colder months when they tend to work harder. Making sure that your fluids are at their proper levels, spark plugs are functioning correctly and all filters are clean are all crucial aspects of keeping your car or truck running its best this fall.

Tire Service

It’s not only the internal components of your automobile you need to pay extra attention to this time of year. Your tires also need to be in good condition as well. In many areas rain, snow and other forms of precipitation increase significantly during this season.

Not only does this make for poor visibility, but it also makes the roads much more slippery and dangerous. This means that your tires need to have good tread, proper inflation and most likely, a rotation and balancing service.

Replace Windshield Wipers

To help with those bad conditions and visibility issues that often arise around this time of the year, installing a new pair of windshield wipers will go a long way. Wipers are one of the most neglected wear and tear items on a vehicle.

While it may not even be noticeable during those bright and shiny summertime months, when the sun starts going down early and the mist and light rain is continual, bad wipers quickly become very obvious.

Check All Lights and Bulbs

Finally, make sure all headlights, taillights, running lamps, as well as any other exterior lights on your vehicle work properly. This not only helps you see better in less-than-ideal conditions but it also helps other drivers see you as well.

If you need help with this or any other auto maintenance issue, please feel free to schedule a service appointment.
