Stepping Up for Charlotte's Shelter Pets - Melissa K

Thank you so much for stepping up for Charlotte's shelter pets and being part of our very first Steps for Shelter Pets Walk. Supporters gathered at 8 a.m. on Saturday, may 24th at Pearl Street Park to walk laps in support of CMPD Animal Care and Conrol. Organizers said that their supporters were out to honor the 10,600 animals that had entered the shelter in 2024. Your partnership made a world of difference —not just in helping us reach our goal, but in showing our city what compassion in action truly looks like. Because of your generosity and support, we were able to bring the community together, raise vital funds, and share our mission with hundreds of new hearts. Your presence, your belief in our cause, and your unwavering support helped make this event an unforgettable success. On behalf of the animals we serve, our staff, volunteers, and fosters-thank you. We're proud to walk alongside you for a better future for Charlotte's shelter pets! The goal of raising $53,000 was exceeded by over $2,000. The final total is $55,236.37

Tails of the Unwanted Fundraising Auction - Whitney M

One of our community's foster-based rescue organizations, Tails of the Unwanted, is facing increased costs and no shortage of pets in need of rescue. They host online auctions to raise money for vet bills and boarding costs for the pets in their care. They rely on donatons from businesses and individuals to make the auction successful. Subaru donated a gift basket full of Subaru-themed toys and and gear, as did sister-store, Subaru Concord. Overall, the auction raised $4,563 this year and we are delighted to be a small part of their fundraising efforts! #SubaruLovesPets

New Partnerships for Subaru Loves the Earth - Whitney M

Our planting season in North Carolina required us to receive and distribute the trees in March rather than in April during the official celebration of Subaru Loves the Earth. All of our trees, chosen by new partner, The Arbor Day Foundation, were quickly reserved. Unfortunately, some of our adopters had second thoughts and did not pick up their new leafy family member. That's where local non-profit Habitat Builders came in: "It was a pleasure to meet you on Saturday. Our chapter of the (North Carolina Wildlife Fund) NCWF, Habitat Builders, greatly appreciates your donation of the Shumard Oaks for their mini tree farm. We will be planting these trees in a temporary home until they reach a height of 8-10 feet when they will be ready to be planted on public school properties in Union County, NC. I will attach a link for our chapter's webpage. The webpage highlights our work with our NC State extension agency and the NC Forest Service who we partner with on the public-school tree planting initiative in celebration of Arbor Day each year. This is my third year being part of the program. It is a terrific program and is funded by donations and support from the NCWF, NC State Extension and the NC Forest Service… …Thank you for sharing about Subaru's community involvement. I had no idea they were involved in this level of commitment towards philanthropic causes in the local community. As soon as we have the trees planted in their nursery spot, I will send over a photo for you. In the interim, I am happy to have met you and learned more about Subaru…" We would like to thank everyone who is planting a tree in our community!

From Fender Bender to Philanthropy - Whitney M

When I arrived at the Pineville Neighbors Place Annual Donor Appreciation event, representing Subaru South Charlotte and our commitment to helping our neighbors through support of Pineville Neighbors Place, I was delighted to see a familiar face—one I had first met under less-than-ideal circumstances last August. Let’s just say it involved a parking lot mishap that sent my Subaru Legacy to the body shop. While waiting for the accident report to be filed, we struck up a conversation. She asked about my work, and I shared my role as a Love Promise Champion, as well as the meaningful partnerships we cultivate in the community. A few days later, she reached out unexpectedly. She felt terrible about the accident and wanted to make a donation in my honor to one of our community partners. I was floored! I assured her that repairing my car was more than enough, but she insisted. Some people are simply placed in our paths for a reason, and her kindness left a lasting impression. I shared my three favorite community partners, and she chose Pineville Neighbors Place—drawn to their mission and dedication to helping children. Fast-forward to the end of March: as I entered the Donor Recognition event, sponsored in part by Subaru South Charlotte, there she was again—invited as a donor in recognition of her generosity. Together, we enjoyed the event, learned more about the organization’s impact, and celebrated the spirit of giving. I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I do on behalf of two community-minded Subaru retailers. Even more so, I’m grateful that sharing my passion inspired financial support for a cause that makes a difference. Who knew a car accident could turn into something so meaningful? The evening was success! From Staci McBride, Executive Director of Pineville Neighbors Place: "MANY THANKS to Atrium Health and Subaru South Charlotte for sponsoring our Donor Recognition Event! They made it possible to celebrate our top donors and volunteers that helped us deliver over 9400 services in 2024! Middle James Brewing Company provided the perfect venue to celebrate our MVPs! We are excited to celebrate 10 years in 2026 and invite you to help us Level Up! Supporting Veterans Bridge Home - Whitney M

On February 11th, Subaru South Charlotte and Subaru Concord presented the proceeds from the 2024 fundraising campaign to Veterans Bridge Home (VBH) at Subaru South Charlotte during a breakfast that also provided a great opportunity to recognize a local American Legion Commander for his dedication to Veterans. This is the third year for this campaign that has generated not only $70,000 in monetary support directly to VBH, but also $85,000 in media support to spread awareness of this non-profit's mission and increase the number of Veterans seeking services. Last year VBH supported 3,656 veteran families with 8,617 different services across the Carolinas, (1,569 families and 4,443 services in the Charlotte Metro market alone). Since their founding, VBH has served more than 22,000 veterans with more than 51,000 unique services. “Veterans Bridge Home is grateful for the generous support of Subaru South Charlotte,” said Steven Cole, Veteran Bridge Home VP of Development. “Supporting the veteran families who have served our country is a community responsibility and it wouldn’t be possible without partners like them.” If you are a Veteran in need of assistance, or if you would like to offer your support to VBH, please contact them directly at 866-249-6656 or veteransbridgehome.org As part of the Subaru Love Promise, we are proud to offer support to this organization!

Helping Others is the Key to a Strong Community - Whitney M

Imagine having to go without a coat, shoes, and socks when you need them most. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, and right here in Mecklenburg County, this can be a harsh reality. Helping others is the key to a strong community, which is why Subaru South Charlotte believes in helping to support individuals and families in urgent need. For our Subaru Loves to Help® initiative, we are partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. In January, a team from Subaru South Charlotte visited The Salvation Army’s Center for Hope to provide children in urgent need with brand-new coat, shoes, and socks. Almost 200 coats and 200 pairs of shoes were donated during this event. The Salvation Army will ensure that all of the donated coats and shoes are distributed to families they serve. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being. These items can mean the difference be-tween attending school and participating in activities or sitting out. No child should ever have to face these circumstances. There is a wide range of coats and shoes for every kid who walks through the shelter door. The coats have a fleece lining and deep pockets to help keep the kids warm, even without gloves. The shoes are very kid-friendly, with durable soles that are lightweight and comfortable. “At Center of Hope, we see children entering with only the clothes on their backs,” says Major Jason Burns, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. “This distribution is a timely blessing for the families and children who utilize our services.” Operation Warm manufactures coats, shoes, and socks to the strictest industry standards – ensuring that kids love how they look and feel.

Western NC Supply Drive - Whitney M

Like many of you, we were shocked and heartbroken by the unprecedented losses experienced by our neighbors in Western North Carolina. Warned against traveling to the area without a plan for a safe route, fuel and dry storage for donations, we partnered with a local group of churches to ensure that donations could be safely delivered and protected from the elements as they were distributed. A group of neighbors nearby saw our social posts offering to deliver donations and they began a neighborhood collection that resulted in multiple supply drop offs. We then transported the donations to our partner who delivered them safely to our neighbors in need. We continue to offer our stores as collection sites and can arrange for the delivery. The needs in Western NC may have changed since the disaster first struck but the need for help will continue for many years to come.

The Angel Tree Promise: Bringing Christmas Joy to Every Child - Whitney M

In the heart of our community, there is an annual tradition that brings light and hope to many families during the holiday season. This tradition, known as the Angel Tree, is a partnership between our organization, The Salvation Army and WCCB Charlotte, aimed at raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of Angels—children in need of Christmas gifts. Each year, as the festive season approaches, the community comes together to support this noble cause. Through the Angel Tree program, children are referred by social workers and social services. A collaborative effort between the children and their parents creates a list of wants and needs, ensuring each child receives gifts that will bring them joy and meet their essential needs. This year, our accounting team took a heartwarming step to support the cause. They decided to pool all their money from their Casual Friday fund to purchase toys for the Angel Tree. Their generous spirit was a testament to the caring and giving nature of our team! Donations arrived from the team, from Subaru owners and the general public, Our team accepted and transported these donations to the 'Stuff the Truck Event'. When more donations arrived after that day, the team loaded up a Subaru and delivered to the Christmas Bureau, where they were carefully sorted and prepared for distribution. The Christmas Bureau, a hub of festive activity, became a beacon of hope, ensuring that every child had a gift to open on Christmas morning. The Angel Tree is not just about gifts; it is about bringing joy and creating lasting memories. It is a reminder that every child deserves to feel the magic of Christmas, to know they are loved and cared for: a testament to the power of community, where people come together to make a difference, one child at a time. As we continue to support the Angel Tree program, let us remember the impact we can have. Each donation, each gift, and each moment of kindness contributes to a larger purpose: ensuring that every child experiences the joy and wonder of Christmas. Together, we can make this holiday season unforgettable for those in need. Let us unite in the spirit of giving through the Angel Tree, spreading warmth and happiness to every corner of our community.
